The Emerald Ash Borer & Ash Trees

The Emerald Ash Borer "AB" is a beetle brought here from South Asia. The females lay eggs in bark crevices on ash trees, and larvae feed underneath the tree bark. It is an invasive species and is highly destructive to ash trees native to North America; responsible for killing millions of ash trees in the United States.

Affected trees are NOT safe to be around, under or climbed as they can easily fall damaging property or injuring people. These trees should be taken down with a lift by a professional only, ASAP.

Here are a few signs your ash tree has been affected by EAB & dead or dying:
- No leaves or foliage on the tree(s) during regular bloom seasons.

- Thinning of canopy

- Yellowing foliage

- Dead branches

- Bark is discolored, cracked and/or peeling off.

- Notice more wood peckers and/or squirrels at those trees as they are trying to eat the insects (EAB) inside the tree.
